Tessian raises $42m Series B

Tessian announced the closing of a $42m Series B round, led by Sequoia with participation from Balderton, LocalGlobe and Accel, to fuel the next wave of enterprise cybersecurity. This round, which will help Tessian to accelerate its global expansion, and invest heavily in research and development to expand its product line.

Suranga said: "Since we led the Series A in Tessian, it has been a pleasure to work with Tim, Ed, Tom and their team... we believe the company's singular focus on protecting corporations, without limiting or restricting their employees, is powerful and sets the bar on enterprise security."

3D Hubs raises $18M Series C 

3D Hubs, the automated manufacturing platform, closed an $18M Series C round to continue the company's US expansion and to further develop the automation of its manufacturing platform.

James said: “By combining the latest technical advances in manufacturing with their proprietary software and global network, 3D Hubs is giving global brands and first-time designers access to instant, high-quality manufacturing services anywhere in the world."

VOI Technology raises $30M 

VOI Scooters VOI scooters can now be found in 14 cities across Europe

Smart mobility startup VOI Technology raised $30m to ramp up expansion across Europe and invest in R&D. VOI scooters are now in 14 cities including Stockholm, Paris, Madrid, Lisbon and Oslo. 

In a matter of just seven months, the company has built up over 400,000 riders, who have taken a total of more than 750,000 rides and cumulatively travelled over a million-and-a-half kilometres – the equivalent to 37 times around the globe.

Peakon closes $35M 

Peakon, the world’s leading employee retention platform, raised $35m to further scale the company’s already impressive growth in the US market and grow product and engineering teams. The round was led by Atomico, with participation from existing investors including Balderton, EQT Ventures, IDInvest Partners, and Sunstone.

Peakon has had an incredible year — doubling headcount to over 180 and growing revenue by over 200%. Since launch, Peakon has helped clients such as Verizon, BMW, Harrods and easyJet make quantifiable improvements to employee engagement, retention, and team effectiveness.

Nutmeg announces plans to crowdfund through fellow Balderton portfolio company Crowdcube

Nutmeg, has announced plans to democratise its company ownership with a crowdfund later this year, working in conjunction with Crowdcube, the world’s first and largest equity crowdfunding platform. 

The crowdfunding, in addition to the recent Series E fundraise from Convoy and Goldman Sachs, will be used by Nutmeg to fuel innovation and growth in the UK and expansion overseas.

In honour of International Women’s Day, in partnership with 50inTech, we invited five incredible founders to have a no-holds-barred discussion about the realities of managing young families and growing a startup. 

Brilliantly moderated by TechCrunch's Editor-at-Large, Mike Butcher, these five founders (Marie Outtier @Aiden.io, Helene Guillaume @Wild.ai, Chris Morton @Lyst, Matt Wiggins @Mojiworks and Pip Jamieson @The Dots) laid it all bare, tackling difficult topics with humour and complete honesty.

We couldn't have hoped for a more candid and constructive conversation.
