Balderton Capital News: Announcing Liquidity I
Balderton Capital Logo

Today, Balderton is delighted to share the announcement of our new fundBalderton Liquidity I.

Liquidity I is Europe’s first venture fund dedicated to providing liquidity to early-stage shareholders in high-growth, European founded tech companies. It has been established to allow the purchase of minority stakes, between regular fund-raising rounds, in companies where early shareholders wish to obtain pre-exit liquidity.

A first for Europe, we firmly believe that a Fund such as this will be both company- and investor-friendly. It will give early founders and employees an opportunity to realise gains as they continue to work hard to grow their company, at the same time as giving them access to Balderton’s own expanding resource and services network. For early investors, it will offer an opportunity to re-balance portfolios, re-invest monies back into the startup ecosystem, and report positive news to their own partners.

Daniel Waterhouse will be heading up Liquidity I fund activities on behalf of the Partnership, alongside new investment team member, Balderton Principal Laura Connell.

You can read Daniel’s article providing Balderton's perspective on raising this fund, and also read the press release on Balderton's site.

With the launch of Liquidity I, Balderton will have raised over half a billion dollars since the beginning of 2017 alone, and a total in our eighteen-year history of over $2.7bn. Today, there are more than 85 companies in the Balderton family, employing over fourteen thousand people in offices around the world. This new fund will help us to take advantage of new investment opportunities arising in the maturing European tech ecosystem. We are excited about the trajectory of the ecosystem, and the part we all have to play in building future European-born global tech companies.

If you have questions, please contact us.

All the best,

The Partners
